IF YOU WERE AT THE 2018 REUNION, SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE
WHY THIS EVENT IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME AND MY FAMILY AND WHY WE SHOULD ALL ATTEND.
If you are reading this, there is a high probability that we are related, either by blood or by marriage. To all our elders; those who have gone home to prepare for us and those who are still here taking care of us, I honor you. To my brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and to ALL members of the AGUNLOYE Family, I greet you. For the sake of those that do not know who I am. I am Richard Bankole, I am the first-born son of Prof and Mrs. Bankole. I have been blessed in marriage to my wife, Sheryl Bankole for 25 years. We have 3 children, Paris, Morayo and Morgan (aka Solape named after our mom). I have a brother, David Bankole whom I personally gave the name Kunle to (if you want to know the full story, ask me at the reunion). We also have a sister and brother (Claire and Chris Bankole) that live in England. Our Brother Chris and his wife Nazreen are blessed with a son Makaio and a recent addition to their family, a baby girl named Maliyah. Since the last reunion in Atlanta 2018, our dad, Prof M.A. Bankole (aka Eru), went home to join is beloved wife; our dear Mother, Mrs. Beatrice Olusolape Bankole. She is the main reason (especially for Kunle and me) why our family reunions are so important. She would be so proud of all of us. Words cannot begin to describe what family, especially hers, meant to our beloved Mom. Our Mom was the third of 26 children that our grandfather had. Our grandfather, Pa. William Omotosho Agunloye was one of 12 children of the Patriarch of the Agunloye Family Pa. Brimoh. Family was very important to our mom and from the many stories we heard growing up, it was paramount to our grandfather and great grandfather as well. In our attempt to honor the legacy of where we all came from and more importantly to discover who we are, where we are, and to discover where we are going; it is imperative, essential, important, necessary, compulsory and a matter of survival that the grand event of our Family Reunion being planned for July (6th to 9th) 2023, in Charlotte, NC, come to fruition and that ALL who are able to, must attend. We are going to have fun together, we will laugh, play games, swap stories, have important discussions, party together and most importantly, reconnect, make new connections and get to know one another. Do you know that a lot of family members met each other or found out about each other for the first time, during the last reunion of 2018? Those relationships and connections will now last a lifetime. For the sake of our children and the legacy we all need to leave for them; this reunion is a matter of life for and survival of our great AGUNLOYE FAMILY. I have made my contribution and registered my family; I am ready and excited to attend. See you all in Charlotte, 2023., by God’s grace. AJOBI A GBE A!
I remember when I was a little kid, looking forward to Christmas or New Year event. That meant new clothes, shoes, lots of festivities all around, plus presents or gifts, etc. With full awareness of what to expect, that meant presents/gifts that cannot be opened until the event day. With so much anticipation, at the time, I could not wait enough for the Xmas day to arrive. With the same youthful exuberance, I, for one, cannot honestly wait to meet you all. That includes, those I already know - nephews, brothers, sisters, nieces, cousins; and others I am yet to meet and greet (face-to-face); and to enthusiastically welcome all of you into the fold. By God’s grace, this reunion is going to be a great, joyous occasion. May God bless you all. Be there! Come one!! Come all!! -
Chairperson 2023 Reunion Committee.
Hello Family. The value of knowing who you are, where you are from, with deep knowledge of your roots, are priceless bundles of confidence boosters for walking on solid rock in the journey of life. Family ties all these together for us. Getting together as one harmonious Family, are also joyful moments to cement this. Please sow to this noble family event and be part of keeping our collective love continually alive. For this, nothing is too expensive. Come one come all. Ajobi a gbe gbogbo wa o!
Love you all and God bless.
Hello Family 🤗🤗🤗🤗💕. I have been asked by one of our current officials of this wonderful, illustrious, successful, fun loving and above all, God fearing family...The AGUNLOYE Family home and abroad👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. My very own Lord Richard “ÉRU”. Éru means proven brilliance...put simply.. hot🤣.
Where do I start from? Oh Yes... from Pa Braimoh of Blessed memory. A Muslim... from what I learnt..A Really happening Dude🤣🤣. With pieced ears and gold studs🤷🏽♂️. He loved to travel and was very adventurous 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾. Are we surprised that his seeds are happening and very relevant in their respective fields? Glory be to God🙏🏿.
Papa had more more male children than females. He did not really believe in Western Education. He thought lazy men do such. Wonder if by his faith, believed in “Boko Haram”. Could be? Crux of the matter was, he was lucky to marry his first wife... Mama Abiara who believed in western education and In Christianity 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Sent their first Son to School. The rest they say is History.
By the influence of his first Son, equity, love, encouragement and genuine love came into the family. The first Son was highly respected by the younger ones, and he was instrumental to making his brothers and their children take the Sur - Name Agunloye. Glory be to God👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏿. There is so much Power in Unity.
Apart from the Salvation of my Soul and sanctification my most treasured blessing is my Agunloye lineage and family. To have sooo many brothers and sisters that you can depend upon????. WAO👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾. Brothers and sisters that are doing so well by The Soecial Grace of God???. It just has to be God. Glory be to God In The Highest🙏🏿.
Our first President, our own Prof Jide Agunloye just sky rocketed after his tenure in Office. With numerous blessings and increase??.
Our present President was shy and would hardly talk... come and see what The Lord is doing now? God is enlarging his Coast and he is blossoming 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
There are so many testimonies after our first meeting in Chicago where our own Prof Agunloye was elected.
Marriages galore👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Increase numerically and financially and our children taking the Name higher. Like our seeds going to Ivy-League Schools like Cornell and Harvard?👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Do you believe that may be Pa Braimoh was very brilliant? By his fruits we are knowing him o.
Even though we are like 99% Christians in the Family, God has retained one of us as A Prominent Muslim to keep up the faith of Pa Buraimoh in the person of my beautiful sister Alhaja Wura Ololade. The mother of our Secretary, who God just blessed on all rounds👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Brethren if I were to continue to write testimonies of God’s Goodness to us, “Ile A su u, Ilè A mo”. We will be at it all day and all night!!!.
Let me take this privilege to say thank you to all of you especially the elders who spend money and time to sustain the Union and especially too for always being there for each other🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿. Who needs additional friends with the type of family we are? But guess what? most of our friends have become families too🤗🤗.
May The Lord continue to increase us, make us humble and give us the Grace to be good role models to people coming behind us🙏🏿.
To the younger ones, nothing shall limit you in achieving your goals In Jesus Name 🙏🏿. YES WE CAN🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿💕💕.
Hello Family! I can't express how much I look forward to our upcoming reunion. The committee has been working so hard to exceed 2018's success. I feel fortunate to have attended the 2018 reunion as it exceeded my expectations in the planning, camaraderie, fellowship, and FUN! For me, it was the first time meeting many of my family members and seeing loved ones from when I was a child. Apart from feeling the pride of being from such a vibrant lineage, I learned more about our story and legacy through conversations with loved ones. My favorite has been the friendships, and bonds fostered with extended family that developed beyond the weekend. There is nothing like having a network of people (loved ones), who share similar values and strong suits - iron sharpens iron :). I truly look forward to the reunions in years to come so I can witness the next generations coming up as well as learn from those who preceded me. As the years go by, I understand the necessity and value of family ties. Many of the strongest / most influential members of our local and global communities have mastered the importance of family (for better or for worse). Why should the AGUNLOYE lineage be any different? I look forward to being with you all this summer!!
P.S. - Book your hotels and pay the love forward :)
Hello family. I’m Tola Jordan. I’m the third born of Mrs. Ajibike Oni. I’m married to Patrick Jordan and we have two kids: Demilola (9) and Tomide (6). We weren’t able to make it to the last reunion in Atlanta, but we have had the good fortune of being able to connect with a lot of family members at various events over the years. We love our very special extended family, and we are very much looking forward to this reunion and an opportunity to meet and get to know relatives from all over. I especially love that despite our size, we are able to foster and maintain a strong sense of belonging, which I only hope we can keep passing down as the family grows. We appreciate all the Uncles and Aunts who have taken it upon themselves to establish this wonderful tradition and ensure that it continues. Thank you for love and thank you for your time. And to the planning committee, thank you so much - we see you and all you’re doing. Plus, I can now worry a little less that my kid will accidentally marry a relative 😉. I wish everyone safe travels to Charlotte in July and I pray God continues to keep us all in perfect health.
Love you all.
Where do I begin, I can honestly say that being an Agunloye descendant has been a privilege and a delight. I remember growing up as a teenager in Nigeria, my mom would always tell me stories about my several uncles in the United States, and trust young me at the time, I was hooked to those stories and couldn’t wait to see some of these larger than life people come to Nigeria for visits in December. So when I came to the United States, seeing and meeting more uncles that I’ve heard stories about in the flesh was very exciting for me. The feeling was even more surreal when I met more family members that I haven’t heard about at the Atlanta 2018 Reunion. I honestly do not think I would have opportunity of knowing majority of my family members today without the reunion. I can’t wait to see everyone in July and perhaps some new faces. Also, judging with the excitement & enthusiasm of everyone, I believe 2023 reunion in Charlotte will be bigger and better. #Reunion 2.0. If there is a lesson I learned from the recent Covid 19 pandemic is that family need to be there for one another, be closer & check on each other because life can be unpredictable. In closing, I want thank my mom for giving me the opportunity to be part of a great family. A family that loves and cares for each other despite all odds. I love you all and I can’t wait to see you again!!
I am David Olukunle Bankole. I am the 2nd born child of the Late Mrs. Beatrice Solape Bankole (Nee Agunloye). Who in turn was the 3rd born child of Papa Williams Omotosho Agunloye, who was one of the children of the Patriarch of this lineage Pa Brimoh Agunloye.
I live in Waxhaw, North Carolina right outside Charlotte where the 3rd Agunloye reunion is being hosted. I am married to Shonika Bankole for 24 blissful years, and are blessed with 3 children Akintayo (18), Yewande (13), and Olumide (13). Our daughter Yewande is so named being the daughter born after my Mom, her grandmother passed in 2008.
Growing up in Lagos with my Mom, I grew up close to my Agunloye lineage. I saw quite a few of my uncles come to Lagos from Akure and eventually traveled to the United States or abroad in general to study and settle abroad.
It wasn’t too much of a surprise to my Mom that after High school in Lagos, that even though I was in the midst of my university studies at the University of Lagos, all I wanted to do was come to the United States of America following my uncles. I won’t bore you with the details of how I pulled that off, that’s a story for another time over drinks at the reunion, if anyone is interested.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion in July 2023. It has been a labor of love planning to host the reunion event in Charlotte. I was part of the planning committee for the Atlanta reunion in 2018, and now because of the geography of living in Charlotte I was drafted to be on this committee also. We do it for love of family and for the glory and honor of our Mom. I know she is proudly looking down at us appreciating the legacy she left behind.
I will close by encouraging all my fellow Agunloye descendants near and far to make it a priority to join us in Charlotte North Carolina this July 6th thru the 9th for the 3rdAgunloye reunion activities. We have a lot planned. If you haven’t sent in your contributions, please do so.
My name is Sheryl Josette Bankole and have been blessed to be married for over 25 years to the senior son (Mr. Richard Bankole) of Professor and Mrs. Michael and Solape (nee: Agunloye) Bankole. This Reunion is so important to me and my family- due to our blending of American and African heritage through which we produce three African American children (Paris, Morayo, and Solape). We coined a phrase in our house, and we refer to ourselves as, “ The Five Deep Bankoles”. The reunion gives me a sense of pride and is the cornerstone of our family. I/ We have embraced the traditions and heritage which insures the passage of cultural practices from one generation to another. The past reunion gave new insight into traditional practices, through songs, dance, and food and I expect the one coming to be no different except grander. The reunion allows a clear understanding and meaning of family with the passing of culture, traditions, and values from previous generations. We stand on the shoulders of our African Ancestors, and they remain a crucial part of our identity formation. This in turn leads to a great way to foster individual and societal growth within our family.
My name is Olusegun Agunloye. I’m one of the many children of Lawrence Oluwafemi Agunloye (L.O). I’m proud to represent Oyemekun side of my father and Ondo Ekimogun side of my mother (Fola) . On behalf of my wife Birgit and my children Christopher and Benjamin. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at this year’s reunion in Charlotte. Ajobi a gbe kete ri a o.
Agunloye…
To me it’s always meant cool, it’s always meant style, confidence, love. When I see our name it defines legendary. This reunion has meant so much to me as I’ve always felt family is a foundation of happiness. When I see my family I am elated with joy. Being asked to join this planning committee has been an honor as I am proud to represent us the highest honor that we are. To my family always know as an Agunloye I will continue to shine our torch high and bright.
Love Always
We are such a big family with roots all throughout the US and abroad, and it was wonderful to see it in reality, in 2018. Our gathering in 2018 taught me the importance of family, as it is here where we learn what genuine love should look like. My hope is that this reunion will be the catalyst for our family to find value in creating harmony and peace amongst each other so we can continue coming together for many more years. I am grateful to have formed so many bonds in 2018 that are still just as strong, as I write this testimonial. Therefore, anyone who may be questioning if they should attend our upcoming reunion in July, I want to personally encourage you to come; you will not regret it. What we have in store for you all, by God's grace, will be even better than 2018. I look forward to seeing everyone in July and to meeting new family members! :)
I haven't attend any of the family reunion's, but i heard my mum talk about the first and second reunion alot. She would talk about the events and how she would have loved to attend the next one, she was always updated by Sister Jibike and Sister Wura. Mum shared fun memories of her early life growing up in Akure, living with Daddy's L. O, (aka Oga Olopa), his starched kaki uniform, all the beautiful police ceremonies to announce his arrival at home and at his station in Ibadan. He was indeed a great Nigerian who served at the highest level in the Nigerian mobile police force. Me and my siblings had opportunities to spend lots of Christmas holidays in Akure, visiting the the Agunloye House, Mummy Mrs Adeniran and Daddy L.O, those Christmas days are some my best holidays, food non stop, proper owambe parties! (As I write those days seem like yesterday, but no some 35years+ gist). I was very happy to receive a WhatsApp message from Mrs Yetunde Ayodeji (Nee Adeniran), l must have been a little boy when last she saw me, grateful for the power of social media, helping families around the world to connect. As we count down to Charlotte 2023,I look forward to join in as much as possible, through live streams and beautiful pictures that will be shared, I must also mention the how much effort Bro Bayo Ayilara and Titi Agunloye put in to make sure I attended Charlotte, its a promise to you both that I will not miss the next by HIS special grace.
All roads lead to Charlotte, NC in a few days. A family, whose roots stem from UPISHA (a little village in Akure Kingdom), will be having the mother of all family reunions this July. May God direct our activities and protect all that will be present. My family's recent visit to Akure this past December reinforced the importance of coming together. My children were able to see the town, my high school, the family house and meet my two brothers (brother Sanya and Jide) living in Akure. They were struct with emotions. As we drove around, seeing different people and places, MY daughter Michelle said, Wow! I guess this is where it all started to the amusement everyone of us: the Genesis of The Agunloye Dynasty. The Agunloye name is a name we can all be proud of today; it spreads out like the tentacles of an Octopus all over the world, just as it was intended to do with the vision and prediction of Pa Omotosho Williams Agunloye. My special thanks to all the planners of this year's reunion. You've already done a great job and I can't wait to see everybody in goodness and happiness of heart, God helping us.
